On Sunday 12th March, we had the pleasure of catering for newlyweds Courtney & PJ. Despite the weather forecast predicting steady showers throughout the day, it didn’t damper the spirits of the bride and groom to be.

Here’s their Menu;

  • Lemongrass, ginger & coriander prawn skewers
  • Spanakopita (Spinach & feta fill pastry parcels)
  • Char-grilled Octopus
  • Pan-fried halloumi, sun-dried tomato and lemon crostini

Mains

  • Spit-roasted whole Lamb
  • Spit-roasted Porchetta Roll
  • Greek Salad
  • Watermelon, Feta & Sumac Salad
  • Potato, lemon & Spring Onion Salad
  • Continental bread from Skala Bakery

The reception was held in their backyard and the decorations complimented the theme of the day perfectly. Check out a few snaps that we took of the day/night below.

And here’s what the lovely couple had to say about their experience; “We are so glad to have chosen Charcoal Catering to cater our wedding on the weekend. Our 90 guests commented on how delicious the food was and how awesome the crew were. They even made a point of preparing plates for my husband and I so that we wouldn’t forget to eat (as Chris said he had forgotten to eat at his own wedding!). Chris and Zoes and their wait staff really added to how special our day was. Thanks a million guys! Courtney and PJ Gugusheff

Ten Miles East is an artisan vineyard and winery tucked away in a Norton Summit valley literally 10 miles East of Adelaide, and this weekend we had the pleasure of catering for their annual Winter Winemakers Lunch in their barrel room. Ten Miles East focusses on growing small quantities of exceptional quality grapes and their current releases consist of; Arneis, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Saperavi. Its great to see some alternative varieties in the mix, Arneis, originating from Piedmont in Italy and Saperavi, coming from Georgia. Check out their range of wines here! – you won’t be disappointed.

On the Menu for the day was Spit Roasted Lamb, delicious char-grilled quail as well as a host of salads and a glorious cheese platter to finish courtesy of Mercato in Campbelltown.

Weddings are such momentous occasions in our lives that we get to share with our most loved and cherished family & friends. On Saturday 16th January 2016, we helped celebrate the wedding of Chris and Hayley with 100 of their family and friends at the beautiful Murray Street Vineyard Cellar Door and Winery in the Barossa Valley.

The menu was a selection of dips and our new Sepia bread (cuttlefish ink sourdough) that we get from Skala bakery, lemongrass, ginger & coriander prawn skewers and Spanakopita (spinach & feta fill parcels) which were offered after Hayley & Chris had given their vows at the wedding ceremony.

It was then onto the rustic, vintage themed wedding reception located in the barrel hall at the winery were guests were treated to a whole suckling pig and lamb on the spit, marinated roasted lamb roll, Sicilian style porchetta, Mediterranean beef shaslicks, char-grilled chicken, salads and continental bread.

Finally, guests indulged in a stunning, 4-tier wedding cake made by Cristrella Cakes. We hope Chris & Hayley enjoyed their special night and wish them many years happy marriage. Ya Mas!

This weekend we were delighted to cater for a local Adelaide family business, Skala bakery. Their son Sam hosted his 21st birthday at his parents home and in true Skala bakery style, they pulled out all the stops and no stone was left unturned. Harriott, his mother, took the opportunity to test one of their new products, the Sepia loaf, which is cuttlefish ink infused bread in the form of a brioche roll as well as sourdough loaf. The striking black colour was the perfect theme for the night and the flavour was incredible. We served the bread with pulled pork sliders and tomato, bocconcini and basil bruschetta. Ya Mas!

They chose an canapé style menu for a more relaxed feel. Congratulations again and we hope you enjoyed the evening with not too many sore heads this morning. Ya Mas!

Another beautiful day for a BBQ. And yes, that’s a hair dryer. #stokingthefire #charcoalcatering

The porchetta is starting to develop its colour now….

This porchetta is from Marino meats in the central market, it’s a Sicilian style, flavoured with orange zest, bay leaf and a variety of other ‘secret’ herbs and spices.

Now it’s onto our char grilled tomato & capsicum dip and also our Babaganoush. All get that smokey, charred flavour from the grill.

The Octopus is in the grill and the smell is incredible!

And the finished product…
